How to turn your photos into beautiful art prints

When it comes to showcasing our photography, the first thing that comes to mind is sharing them online. We either make a portfolio website featuring our latest and greatest work, or put them up for discovery through social media. This year, however, how about making some beautiful art prints out of them as well?

“I was once told once that if you want your work to live longer than you do, then you need to print it or make a book,” said Jay P. Morgan of The Slanted Lens in the video above. However, it’s less about using your regular office printer, but creating professional art prints that you’d be proud to hang on your walls or even showcase in a gallery space.

So, Morgan talks about the entire process of making wall art prints, from preparing your images, calibrating your monitor and using color profiles, to choosing the best print surfaces. There are several options to choose from, so make sure to ask your print studio of choice to provide you with paper samples. Some of them will also allow you to order small test prints so you can get a better idea on the best choice for your photos.

There are several key considerations when choosing the best print surface for your photo. Morgan made sure to share what made him decide on which surface, which should also help your selection process.
