We only have a few weeks to go before the WPPI Conference opens. I got to chat about it with George Varanakis, who was brought on a few months ago to produce this year’s WPPI event. George is the Strategic Advisor and Former EVP of WPPI. He also co-founded Sue Bryce Education and The Portrait Masters.
Many of you may already know George from his past escapades, as he’s been involved in this industry for donkey’s years! George’s background involves running WPPI in its early days, circa 2012. Of course, there’s also his involvement in helping Sue Bryce to build the Portrait Masters Empire and the Portrait System.
I asked George for the no-BS take on how WPPI was shaping up, and he was very upfront about it. Pre-registration has exceeded their estimations! They have super-sized the engagement components of the show to increase attendee interaction. There will be over 15 shooting bays on the show floor. The number of photo walks is already breaking show history records. George also pointed out that they had added a DJ to the show floor this year, giving another dimension to the walking-the-show floor experience. I believe this addition was because George wanted to bust a move.
