Shutterstock Create is an online image editing tool that helps anyone create impressive designs in less time.
Here’s how you can use this incredible tool to create the perfect virtual background for remote meetings in Zoom.
Step 1: Pick Your Background Image
You can select your favorite image from this free Zoom virtual backgrounds pack or start by searching for even more background options in the Shutterstock Create.
If you want to use a Zoom virtual background within the tool instead, simply click Images and type “Zoom background” into the search bar.

Step 2: Set Zoom Background Size
You can define a custom size in the Canvas > Resize canvas tab. Or, the easiest way to maneuver your canvas size is to choose from Shutterstock’s preset sizes from the Video tab before you start designing.
To get there, click File > Create new > Blank Canvas and scroll to the Video category.
We recommend using the 1080p HD Video preset at 1920×1080 pixels. This provides the 16:9 aspect ratio with the appropriate dimensions for Zoom backgrounds.
Step 3: Get Creative
When your image is loaded, you can customize the design to your liking. While this is an optional step, below are some ideas for what you can do.
- Use text to set the purpose of the meeting
- Tailor your virtual background to your brand
Step 4: Upload Your Virtual Background to Zoom
When you’re happy with your design, download it from Shutterstock Create and upload it to Zoom.
To download your design, click Download from the top-right corner, select your file type, then click Download again.
Now, open up your Zoom account, find the Background Settings option, then upload your image.
For best results, sit in front of a solid wall or use a green screen to help Zoom better calibrate the display.
