What’s inside Your Free, Colorful Memorial Day Clip Art Pack?

Below, we’ll show you how to combine these 13 illustrations to create a new design for a social media post.
How to Design a Colorful Memorial Day Post for Instagram
We’ll now design an Instagram post using the free clip art bundle you downloaded and Shutterstock Create. It’s a beginner-level tutorial, but is packed with fun ideas to inspire your Memorial Day post design.
In the steps below, we’ll explore basic concepts of uploading images, rearranging layers, selecting fonts, and inserting images and shapes. We’ll further detail your Instagram post by exploring layer adjustments and adding some depth to the overall design with textures.
Step 1
Open Shutterstock Create in your browser. Under the heading, click “Start with a blank canvas,” then select “Instagram Post.”
Step 2
From the tools panel on the left, click images. Upload all the images you downloaded from your free clip art bundle. For this tutorial, we’ve already downloaded a few stock images that we’ll use throughout the rest of the graphic. To promote your own sale, we encourage you to use an image of your own business’ products.
Step 3
From the top panel, select “change color” and set the color of the canvas to black “#000000.”
Step 4
Add your pre-selected image to your canvas and center-align it, so it’s nice and big. In our tutorial, we’re using a stock image from our library. In actual practice though, this is when you will upload your own product photo.
Step 5
We’ll now select one of the PNGs to add on top of the previous layer. In this example, we’ll use the square version of the “Sale” clip art. Place it in the center of your canvas. Resize it as you see fit.
Step 6
Let’s add more clip art to make your graphic really pop. Mix and match your free clip art graphics when layering them atop your photos. This may be a process of trial and error, so take your time to see which of the PNGs fit your design needs.
Step 7
Now, we’ll add text and our main message. In the example below, we added “30% Off” to the rectangular “sale” clip art. The font we used is “Caveat Brush” in white. The font size is set to 112.
Step 8
Once you’ve layered the clip art to your liking, you’re done! Click the “Download” button on the top right to save your created image. Choose the file format you want to download, then you can post to social media and drive buyers to your sale.
